Choir / Congregation / Online audience
House of worship
production.
Church event production and live sound in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Bring choir, praise team, band, orchestra, spoken word, and online listening into a plan shaped around the ministry and its music.
01 / The scope
Start with the musical relationships.
A choir-centered service should not have to fit inside a finished band mix. The musical priorities and the relationship with the congregation inform the way microphones, systems, and engineering are approached.
At Alfred Street Baptist Church's Easter 2026 production, Marlon G. Daniel personally mixed front of house, establishing the choir's presence, tone, and level before building the other musical elements around it. The praise team added fullness and articulation.
- The congregation
- A live mix shaped around the musical and spoken-word program, not only the number of sources.
- The musicians
- In-ear mixes, personal monitoring, choir fills, and wedges considered for the needs of each group.
- The online audience
- Broadcast audio and recording discussed as distinct deliverables with their own listening requirements.
02 / The approach
Plan for the people on stage.
Choir members, worship leaders, orchestral players, and a gospel band may need different kinds of monitoring and different amounts of support. Staffing and rehearsal preparation need to reflect those differences.
For Easter 2026, MRD assigned a dedicated orchestra monitor engineer and a main monitor engineer for the praise team, choir fills, and stage wedges. The band used ME-1 personal mixers with baseline mixes prepared before full-ensemble rehearsal.
03 / The detail
Consider the service beyond the room.
The online audience deserves its own considered presentation. Broadcast mixing, final tonal and level checks, and any multitrack recording should be planned with the people responsible for video and distribution.
MRD's Alfred Street Easter work includes 2019, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. The detailed case study describes the 2026 scope only; it does not imply identical equipment or responsibilities across all five productions.

Before we talk
Practical questions.
Do you support church events outside the usual sanctuary?
Discuss the venue and program with us. The Alfred Street case study is an example of MRD supporting a worship production in an arena, with sound and engineering planned for that setting.
Can we include a choir, band, and orchestra?
Yes. Share the ensemble, stage layout, rehearsal plans, and monitoring needs so the scope can account for the complete musical program.
Is livestream video an in-house MRD service?
Do not assume video is included in an audio package. Video responsibilities are separately agreed; CVW Events delivered the Easter 2026 video production under subcontract to MRD.
